It's HOT!!

Let's just name it- it's HOT! The sidewalks are hot. The headlines are hot. Your group chat about the economy is hot. And if you've walked into our office in the last week, you know that — plot twist — it's been hot in here too.
We don't need to rehash the news for you. You've seen it. World events that feel too big to hold, price tags that make you do quiet math in the grocery aisle, a general sense that the ground is shifting a little faster than anyone signed up for. If you've been feeling stretched thin, overheated, and a little bit helpless lately — congratulations, you're a human being paying attention in 2026. You're not broken. You're just warm.
Here's the thing about heat, though, whether it's the kind coming off the pavement or the kind coming off the news cycle: you can't out-muscle it. You can't grit your teeth and power through a heat wave. You adapt. You open a window, you find shade, you slow down at 2pm instead of pretending you're made of steel. Heat teaches surrender. And that's a hard lesson for those of us who were raised to believe that perseverance means never, ever stopping.
We're not exempt from any of this. A week ago, our main office air conditioning unit gave up the ghost — dramatically, and at the worst possible time, because that's how these things go. Affecting our event space and a few practitioner rooms, suddenly we were canceling events we'd planned for months. Practitioners were shuffled from room to room like it was musical chairs, except the chairs were sweating. Clients arrived for their appointments and had to step over toolboxes and around very confused-looking workmen just to get to their session.
It was, in a word, a lot. And also — we stayed open. Every single day. Nobody got turned away. We just got creative, a little sweaty, and a lot more patient with each other. Somebody joked that we'd accidentally started a "hot yoga for everyone" program a few weeks early. We laughed. We rescheduled. We handed out water and apologies in equal measure. And somehow, the work — the actual sacred work of showing up for each other — never stopped happening.
That's really the whole message this month: Perseverance and Surrender are not opposites. We tend to think we have to pick one — either grit it out or give up. But watching our office limp through a broken AC taught us something bigger: you keep showing up (that's the perseverance) and you let go of exactly how it's supposed to look (that's the surrender). You stay committed to the mission without being married to the plan.
You can't control the heat wave, the headlines, or your HVAC unit's dramatic sense of timing. But you can control whether you keep opening the door. Whether you keep making room for people, even when the room itself is 84 degrees and there's a man named Gary drilling something in the hallway.
So if you're feeling the heat this month — literal, global, financial, whatever flavor it's coming in — here's your permission slip. Surrender the illusion that you have to have it all handled. And then, gently, hilariously, imperfectly: keep going anyway. Step around the toolbox. Reschedule the thing. Bring extra water. You are doing better than you think.
And yes — the new AC unit is installed. We did it. We survived summer AND Gary. If we can do that, you can do the thing you've been putting off too. Stay cool out there, however you can manage it.
With warmth (unfortunately, quite literally, for a while there),
The Well of Roswell
