Qigong Class with Cotter Kelsey of Kelsey Healing Arts
Are you ready to reduce stress?
Want to improve your range of motion?
Would a reduction in pain be beneficial to you?
If the answer is yes....check out this weekly Qigong Class on Thursdays at 12:00. A perfect lunchtime activity that will give you benefits all week long.
Qigong is a mind-body-spirit moving meditation medicine that addresses all of these issues and more. It has been a part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It is used as a preventative medicine, for pain management, and recovery from injury & illness. Additional benefits include stress reduction, balance, improved range of motion, and increased strength & stamina.
It is a very safe and gentle exercise that incorporates deep breathing, meditative movements, isometric exercises, and muscle control. Many styles of qigong exist, and a complete daily exercise routine that benefits the mind, heart, lungs, muscles & tendons, joints, and digestion can be tailored to any practitioner regardless of age or physical condition.
Not merely an exercise, qigong is an internal (“soft”) martial art, and is a component of many styles of martial arts training. Regular practice enhances performance and longevity with any competitive sporting or leisure activity.
Spiritual practices in the East have long incorporated qigong into their rituals and meditation practices. It does not have a dogma or set of beliefs, but aids the practitioner in gaining clarity and transcendence with whichever spiritual belief structure they bring with them.
The instructor, Cotter Kelsey, is a licensed acupuncturist with a Doctorate in traditional Eastern medicine. He began training and instructing qigong in 2004. This class will study the Five Animal Sports qigong, self-massage, acu-meridians, isometrics, and muscle control.
Classes are held Thursdays at 12 noon. $20 drop-in, $70 for a four-class pass. No experience necessary. Contact cotter@kelseyhealingarts.com 404-850-8198 for questions l. See less
